This program is discontinued. RSkype Recorder was a small Windows tool that connected to Skype and automatically recorded Skype calls. Recordings could be exported as MP3 or WAV audio files, so conversations could be replayed or archived later.
What it could do. Besides call recording, RSkype Recorder could reach some of Skype's own functions – for example clearing the chat history or adding a new contact – and it included a built-in screen recorder for capturing software tutorials or presentations. It was sold as a paid program with a trial version and ran on Windows XP, Vista and 7. Version 6.2 was released in December 2013, and later builds followed until at least version 6.14 in May 2018.
Why it no longer works. RSkype Recorder was built only for Skype, and Microsoft retired Skype on 5 May 2025, so there are no Skype calls left for it to record. The developer's website (skype-rec.com) is no longer online.
Do not download it from other websites. Copies offered today are unofficial, receive no updates and may be bundled with unwanted software.
What to use instead
- Former Skype users can move to Microsoft Teams Free by signing in with their Skype account; contacts and chats are carried over.
- If you need to record calls, use the recording option of the calling app you use today, and always tell the other people on the call that you are recording.
