MIDI Software

MIDI software works with MIDI, the standard that lets keyboards, controllers and music programs exchange notes and settings. This category includes MIDI players and editors, sequencers, MIDI-to-audio and audio-to-MIDI converters, karaoke players and tools for connecting MIDI devices.

A MIDI file contains notes, not recorded sound, so how it sounds depends on the instrument or sound library that plays it. Use a good software synthesizer or sound font for more realistic playback.
