About Google Chrome

Google Chrome is Google's free web browser and the most widely used browser in the world, with roughly 71% of all browser use across devices at the end of 2025. It is fast, updates itself automatically and works closely with Google services such as Gmail, Drive and YouTube.

Chrome first appeared as a beta for Windows on 2 September 2008, and the first stable version followed on 11 December 2008. Since September 2026 (Chrome 153), Google releases a new major version every two weeks; the browser installs these updates by itself.

Chrome is available for Windows, Mac and Linux, and as an app for Android and iOS. Signing in with a Google account syncs bookmarks, passwords and history across your devices, and the Chrome Web Store offers a large choice of extensions.
