About Adobe Flash Player (discontinued)

Adobe stopped supporting Flash Player on 31 December 2020, and from 12 January 2021 Flash Player itself blocked all Flash content from playing. Web browsers removed Flash support at the same time, so it can no longer be used on today's computers.

Do not download Flash Player from other websites. Copies offered today are not from Adobe, receive no security fixes and are often bundled with malware.

What to use instead

  • Videos, games and animations on modern websites work without any plug-in.
  • To play old Flash games and animations, use Ruffle, a free, open-source Flash emulator that works as a browser extension or as a desktop app.

This page was the Internet Explorer edition of Flash Player. Internet Explorer itself has also been retired.

Frequently asked questions

Does Flash Player still work?
No. Adobe ended support on 31 December 2020 and Flash Player has blocked all Flash content since 12 January 2021. Current web browsers do not support it either.
Is it safe to download Flash Player today?
No. Adobe no longer offers it, so any copy you find elsewhere is unofficial, gets no security fixes and may contain malware.
How can I play old Flash games?
Use Ruffle, a free and open-source Flash emulator. It runs many old Flash games and animations in a modern browser or as a desktop app, although not every Flash feature is supported yet.
