Released January 2026 · summary of the developer’s release notes
WinZip is a long-established file compression tool, first released on 3 April 1991, and now developed by Alludo (formerly Corel). It zips and unzips files, protects them with encryption and helps you manage files stored on your computer and in cloud services. It opens ZIP, ZIPX, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZIP, XZ and VHD archives, among other common formats.
Paid editions (Standard, Pro and Ultimate) add more tools, such as encrypted e-mail sharing with WinZip Courier, batch file conversion and secure file wiping. WinZip runs on Windows and Mac; the Mac version first appeared in 2010, followed by mobile apps for iOS and Android in 2012.
The current Windows version, WinZip 30, requires 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11.
You can try it free for 21 days without a credit card; after that a paid plan is needed.
