In this cartoonish remake of the 1977 arcade classic "Depthcharge", the player assumes control of a trusty sailboat and ever-reliable surplus of TNT in order to purge the ocean depths of all manner of sea-dwelling adversary, organic and mechanical alike. 16 increasingly difficult levels await the player within a range of difficulty settings, while a wide variety of enemy types will be sure to complicate survival at each and every turn. Taking command of one of two selectable boat-types, the player utilizes his/her chosen vessel and reliable surplus of dynamite sticks in order to purge the ocean depths of all manner of submarines and sea creatures, each of which utilize their own distinctive behaviors and attack styles as a means of retaliating against the player. Some enemies require multiple hits to destroy, while many exhibit rather unorthodox means of defense, ranging from randomly twisting and turning torpedoes to laser blasts. The game provides four separate difficulty settings, which range from downright easy to the near-impossible conditions imposed by the game's "Frenzy" mode, the latter of which is intended more as a means of testing the duration of one's survival, rather than indulging any hopes for victory. Each of the player's available ship-types exhibit their respective array of advantages and disadvantages, culminating in balanced variations in terms of speed, surface area, and munitions capacity. With the end of each level, the player is awarded bonus points based on the percentage of enemies destroyed and the player's overall level of accuracy. Extra lives are awarded in variable intervals, the length of which is dictated by the level of difficulty selected. Furthermore, any successfully completed level at a corresponding difficulty level can be reloaded from the main menu, should the player prefer not to start from the very beginning. "Plop, Fizz, Boom!" features a variety of intricate bells and whistles, from intense and elaborate particle effects to a dynamic day/nighttime cycle with corresponding shading effects. With the entirety of critical information having been relayed above, there's very little else to say, other than to wish the player, "Good luck. You're gonna need it."
