GetRight is a classic download manager for Windows from Headlight Software, created by Michael Burford and first released in 1997. It became one of the best-known download managers of the 2000s, mainly because it could resume downloads that were interrupted – by a lost connection, a crash or a computer that was switched off – instead of starting again from zero.
Main features. GetRight can download a file from several servers at the same time (segmented downloading) to speed it up, look for mirror servers automatically and switch to another one if a server becomes busy. Downloads can be scheduled, sorted into categories, paused and resumed, and the program can shut down the computer when everything is finished. It supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and FTPS downloads as well as BitTorrent, and integrates with the major web browsers.
Editions and price. GetRight 6 comes in two editions: the standard GetRight and the more advanced GetRight Pro. Both can be tried for 30 days. The latest version is 6.5; the program has not received a major update since then, so for modern needs many users choose a newer download manager.
